With a rocky season behind him and a desire to add another Super Bowl to his resume, Aaron Rodgers is beginning to confront life beyond the NFL. His candid and insightful weekly appearances on The Pat McAfee Show have fueled speculation that he might follow Tom Brady into the booth.
After all, the broadcasting world offers lucrative opportunities, with Brady’s $375 million Fox deal setting the standard.
Rodgers’ future
Yet Rodgers appears uninterested in trading his cleats for a microphone. According to reports, while offers to join a broadcast team are likely, the former MVP doesn’t see himself in that role.
For now, he seems focused on extending his career on the field, even as questions about his future with the New York Jets swirl.
“After his playing career ends, he will be asked to be a TV analyst and commentator but that isn’t something Aaron is very interested in doing,” a source told Daily Mail.
“He is interested in playing a few more years in the NFL, with the Jets, but if that doesn’t work out, he would consider going elsewhere for one more chance at a Super Bowl.
“But his post-playing days intentions are political. If it made sense, he would run for President or at least consider being a running mate in the way that RFK Jr. wanted him to be this year. Once he is retired, he would have no problem attempting to try his hand for political office.
“It is a very big realm of possibility for something that Aaron would like to try his hand at. It just makes sense to him and is something that interests him. 2028 is far away, but Aaron will be retired by then, and to start a career in politics is right up his alley and something he will take seriously.”
Rodgers’ tenure with the Jets, already marred by an Achilles injury, could soon end. The team is reportedly considering placing him on injured reserve or cutting ties altogether.
