The creditors, Gerald Lee Craig, Eduardo De Arkos, and Kathleen Safreed, are seeking to collect $509,652.42 from Vick and his wife, Kijafa, stemming from a loan they claim was never repaid
The trio filed involuntary Chapter 7 bankruptcy petitions in Florida on Monday, aiming to seize the couple’s assets in order to recover the debt.

Vick’s attorney, Arthur J. Jones, quickly responded to the filing, labeling it as “frivolous” and stating that the attempt to force Vick into bankruptcy is a continuation of a dispute over a loan that was allegedly sold without his knowledge.
Jones further expressed frustration, emphasizing that Vick had made efforts to settle the debt appropriately.
He also warned that the petitioners could face legal consequences if they continue with their actions, arguing that the move was not only legally unfounded but also damaging to Vick’s reputation.

This latest legal battle is not Vick’s first brush with financial difficulties.
In 2008, he filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and in 2022, another group of creditors sued him for $1.2 million in unpaid loans.
Despite these challenges, Vick’s financial situation seemed to be on an upward trajectory as he recently announced his acceptance of a head coaching position at Norfolk State University.
The 44-year-old, who made over $115 million during his 13-year NFL career, will take over a program that has struggled in recent years.
Norfolk State’s previous coach, Dawson Odums, was let go following a 4-8 season.
The news of Vick’s new role was confirmed by sources close to the program, although Norfolk State officials declined to comment publicly.
Vick’s decision to return to coaching in his hometown of Newport News, Virginia, marks a significant new chapter in his post-NFL career.
Despite his financial woes, his new coaching position signals a fresh start as he continues to make his mark off the field.
