Few NFL players are as polarizing as Aaron Rodgers, and his new Netflix documentary, Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, does little to change that.
The three-part series offers a candid glimpse into the life of the four-time MVP quarterback, delving into his storied career, personal struggles, and penchant for exploring alternative therapies.
Aaron Rodgers wants to be a butterfly
One particular moment from the documentary has sparked curiosity and laughter among fans-a scene where Rodgers gets hilariously high on ayahuasca and raves about butterflies.
Filmed during the 2024 offseason, the documentary takes viewers to Costa Rica, where Rodgers attends an ayahuasca retreat alongside fellow NFL players, including Miami Dolphins safety Jordan Poyer.

Ayahuasca, a potent psychoactive brew traditionally used in Amazonian spiritual ceremonies, has grown popular among Western seekers for its reported ability to heal past traumas and shatter egos.
Rodgers is no stranger to the substance, admitting in the series that he’s participated in ayahuasca ceremonies nine times over four trips.
In one memorable scene, Rodgers, surrounded by other participants in the jungle, describes a transformative vision where he imagines himself as a butterfly.
“A butterfly is just another term for the caterpillar,”Rodgers says, grinning.
“It’s really the caterpillar the entire time. And the caterpillar opens his wings and just cannot (expletive) believe this is my life now! I get to fly around. I get to smell flowers and eat flowers.”
He goes on to describe the experience as “living your wildest dreams every single day.”
The clip has sparked a mix of amusement and fascination among NFL fans, with many finding it both ridiculous and oddly endearing.
Aaron Rodgers continues to be a polarizing figure
Rodgers has long been known for his unorthodox approaches, from controversial comments to alternative health practices.
While some may dismiss his ayahuasca adventures as outlandish, the documentary portrays them as a key part of his journey to self-discovery.
Whether you find his revelations inspiring or bewildering, Aaron Rodgers: Enigma is undeniably an eye-opening look at one of the NFL’s most intriguing figures. T
he series is now streaming on Netflix.
