Shavers, a standout in training camp and preseason, had initially missed out on a spot on the 53-man roster but didn’t let that deter him. After being kept on the practice squad, the Bills elevated him to the active roster for their game against the Jets.
His chance came in the form of a simple screen pass, but what he did afterward turned it into a memorable play.
After catching the ball, Shavers weaved through the Jets’ defense, dodging tacklers and sprinting towards the end zone.

“The joy that our team felt from that was pretty special,” Allen said. “He’s been a guy that’s just continued to get better and work extremely hard. He’s a locker room guy. Everybody loves him.”

That was a special moment for him, but I think it was a special moment for the team, because we understand how hard he works, that the time that he puts into his craft, to learn the playbook. He knows every position. You can’t help but root for a guy that continues to work hard, and we’re just happy that he made a play.”
