The Detroit Lions have managed to eclipse both the Kansas City Chiefs and the Dallas Cowboys by becoming the most watched team throughout the 2024/25 NFL season as they claimed the NFC North title.
Scoring 564 points thanks to a dynamic offense, the Lions have been box office at Ford Field throughout the entire campaign, recording impressive results against the Dallas Cowboys (47-9), Tennessee Titans (52-14), Jacksonville Jaguars (52-6) and the Minnesota Vikings (31-9).

Thus, it’s no surprise that Americans nationwide kept choosing to tune in to watch Dan Campbell‘s team play, just three seasons after they finished fourth in their division with a 3-13-1 record.

The Lions averaged 22.65 million television viewers, according to Anthony Crupi, across 17 games which was enough to beat the Cowboys, Chiefs, Green Bay Packers and the Baltimore Ravens in the top five.
Additionally, Crupi also reports the Lions saw the second-most increase in local television viewings (10%) compared to the 2023/24 NFL season. Only C.J Stroud’s Houston Texans had more.
This is the first time the Lions have been top of the television viewing pile since that horrendous 2022 season, although the catch from that year is they only appeared on national TV twice. One was their Thanksgiving game.
Who do the Lions play next?
After narrowly edging out the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North to lead the conference at the end of the regular season, the 15-2 Lions earned a bye and thus got to skip the Wild Card games.
They will now take to the field in the NFC Divisional Game against a resurgent Washington Commanders team, spear-headed by a rookie quarterback sensation in the form of Jayden Daniels.
The game will take place on Sunday, January 19 and will kick-off from 20:00 ET/17:00 PT. The match will be live on FOX Sports as the Lions’ Jared Goff bids to return to the NFC Conference Championship for the second consecutive season.
