Kayla Nicole, known for her past connection to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, has stirred some buzz with her take on the NFL playoffs. Though no longer a Chiefs supporter, the media personality couldn’t resist spotlighting Kelce while appearing on the “I Am Athlete” podcast on Monday.
Reflecting on the divisional round, Nicole offered high praise for Kansas City’s offensive prowess following their victory over the Houston Texans. Meanwhile, her comments also appeared to throw a jab at Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews. The Ravens faced a crushing defeat against the Buffalo Bills after Andrews dropped a critical two-point conversion in the game’s final moments.
“They [the Chiefs] have guys they can count on, who aren’t going to drop the ball in the end zone,” Nicole remarked, a pointed critique that left little to the imagination. “Travis Kelce – that’s a tight end who’s not gonna do it,” she added, underscoring Kelce’s reliability on the field.
Nicole didn’t stop there. She elaborated on why the Chiefs are seemingly unstoppable, predicting they’ll punch their ticket to the Super Bowl for the third straight season. While admitting she’d prefer to see fresh contenders like the Buffalo Bills rise to the occasion, Nicole acknowledged Kansas City’s depth and dominance.
“They’ve got the threats,” she said. “As much as I’d love to see somebody else in the Super Bowl, it’s not gonna happen.”
Having experienced the Chiefs’ success firsthand during her on-again, off-again relationship with Kelce from 2017 to 2022, Nicole provided unique insight into what makes the team thrive. She credited head coach Andy Reid, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and the deafening environment at Arrowhead Stadium.
“It’s the loudest stadium in the league,” she said, before praising Mahomes. “Patrick is just a seasoned vet at this point. There’s no panic, no rash decisions. He studies the game like nobody else … he’s a student of the game.”
When asked how she knew so much, Nicole quipped, “I know someone on the inside.”
Nicole has received hate from Swift fans
Since her high-profile breakup with Kelce, Nicole has been candid about navigating life in the public eye. On the reality series “Special Forces,” she opened up about the emotional toll of their split, especially after Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift became a media frenzy in 2023.
“Going through a public breakup was overwhelming,” she shared, revealing how the experience reduced her to “a headline” as merely Kelce’s ex. Despite the online backlash she received, particularly as Kelce moved on with a global superstar, Nicole expressed admiration for Swift, calling her “very talented.”
Now, Nicole is channeling her energy into her ventures, including her brand Tribe Therep, while using platforms like “Special Forces” to show her “raw and vulnerable” side.
While her personal life continues to grab headlines, her sharp commentary on the NFL ensures she remains a noteworthy voice in sports media.
