Patrick Mahomes has dropped another worrying sign Travis Kelce could be set to quit the NFL at the end of the 2024/25 season, with the Kansas City Chiefs‘ quarterback vowing to get him a send-off win because it could be his last game.
The 35-year-old tight end struggled throughout the regular season, with just 823 receiving yards and three touchdowns from 97 receptions. At times he even seemed the second-preferred tight end target behind Noah Gray.
Although his performance against the Houston Texans could suggest he was saving himself for the NFL Playoffs, as he produced 117 receiving yards and caught a touchdown to book passage to the AFC Championship game.
Regardless, the general consensus is he appears to have slowed down in his 11th season and combined with interests away from the Arrowhead Stadium and nothing left to prove, he could bow out on a high with the Chiefs‘ dynasty in-tact.
That prospect is not something he’s commented much on, and that even includes to his teammates as Mahomes reveals it could be his last game but he doesn’t know the truth of the matter.
“If it’s his last game, let’s go out there and get him a win,” said Mahomes to The Drive with Carrington Harrison. “If it’s not his last game, let’s go out and win anyway.
“Either way, I appreciate every single time I’ve stepped out onto that field with that guy. Knowing that he’s a true legend of not only the Chiefs, the NFL.”
