Star who could join the Chiefs in order to overcome Super Bowl slump

The NFL news cycle never ends despite the Super Bowl now being in the books. The big game saw the Philadelphia Eagles take care of business against the Kansas City Chiefs thanks to a 40-22 scoreline.

The result ended the Chiefs’ hopes of becoming the first team to win three straight Super Bowls, meaning they, like everyone other than the Eagles, must go back to the drawing board in order to mount a challenge next season.

Given the Chiefs struggled on offense against a stout Eagles defence, there are calls for Kansas City to make marked improvements on that side of the ball.

One name being talked about is Tee Higgins. The wide receiver has spent his entire career with the Cincinnati Bengals, but he will be a free agent once the new league year starts.

The Bengals are expected to do what they can to keep him, but he’s expected to attract plenty of suitors given his playmaking abilities.

One NFL analyst pushing the Chiefs to make a push for Higgins is ESPN’s Kimberly Martin, as she believes the pass-catcher is the type of player Kansas City is missing.

“Selfishly, I want to see him with the Chiefs,” Martin said on Get Up.

“You know why? Bad blood between these two teams and if the Bengals don’t want to pay up for Tee Higgins, listen, the Chiefs, I understand they have Patrick Mahomes but they need to give him another receiver.”

What would Higgins bring to the Chiefs?

While the Chiefs added to their reaching corps last season with the signing of Hollywood Brown and drafting Xavier Worthy, many believe the team is still lacking a true No.1 threat.

That’s the opposite problem the Bengals have had, where Higgins has been paired with Ja’Marr Chase. Nevertheless, Cincinnati hasn’t been able to take the next step with the two, leading some to wonder if Higgins will move in on order to find success.

Last season Higgins finished with 73 catches for 911 yards and 10 touchdown. His best season in the NFL came in 2021 when he finished with 74 catches for 1,091 yards and six touchdowns.
