The wife of Kansas City Chiefs Owner Clark Hunt has sent her best wishes to quarterback Patrick Mahomes after his grandfather passed away.
Mahomes‘ week went from bad to far worse when his grandfather passed away, as was announced by his mother, Randi Mahomes.
Tavia Hunt has chosen to publicly share her sympathy for Mahomes and his family after Randi has posted on social media: “Hard to find the words of holding my father’s hand as he goes to Heaven,” Randi wrote. “I know he’s in a better place. I love you daddy. Well done, good and faithful servant! Matthew 25:23.”
“I’m so sorry for your loss,” Tavia commented on Randi‘s Instagram post. “My heart goes out to you during this difficult time. I pray that you feel God’s comforting presence, and that He will bring you peace and strength in the days ahead. May His love surround you, and may you find comfort in the cherished memories you hold close.”
A sad week for Patrick Mahomes
Whilst the death of his grandfather is by far the more important event, the news comes just days after Mahomes failed to show his best in the Super Bowl and found himself on the losing side against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Randi spoke to PEOPLE during the NFL Honors in New Orleans before the Super Bowl and she revealed that Patrick‘s grandfather was in a hospice and was ‘hanging on’ to see his grandson win the Super Bowl for an unprecedented third time in a row.
Randi said at the time: “the one thing that he remembers” is when the Super Bowl is. “I know that it has meant a lot to him,” she said.
“And I think he’s hanging on because he wants to see his grandson do an amazing thing or just let him play.
“I mean, he must be such a proud grandpa, so proud. And my mom was very proud and his other grandparents [were too].”
