Delroy Lindo joins new MonsterVerse movie

From vampires to Titans? Sinners star Delroy Lindo has joined the cast of the new MonsterVerse movie from Legendary.

Delroy Lindo, Godzilla x Kong, sequel

It’s not always easy to care about the human characters in the MonsterVerse movies, but Legendary is surely assembling quite the cast for their follow-up to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. THR reports that the great Delroy Lindo has joined the cast of the new MonsterVerse movie.

Plot details are naturally being kept under wraps at this time, but Legendary has teased that the sequel will feature “several new human characters alongside the beloved and iconic Titans Godzilla and Kong as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat.“ Kaitlyn Dever (The Last of Us) is set to star in the new MonsterVerse project, with Jack O’Connell (28 Years Later) said to be playing the brother of Dever’s character. Dan Stevens (Abigail) is also expected to reprise the role of Trapper, Monarch’s Titan veterinarian who memorably replaced Kong’s infected tooth with a metallic one in the last movie. As for Lindo, THR’s sources say that he will play Dever’s boss at Monarch.

After directing the last two films in the MonsterVerse franchise, director Adam Wingard will be sitting this one out. He elected to step away to focus on his upcoming action horror thriller, Onslaught. The studio tapped Grant Sputore, the director of Hilary Swank’s sci-fi thriller I Am Mother, to helm the new installment. Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is writing the script. The MonsterVerse film is slated for a March 26, 2027 release.

Lindo will next be seen in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners. The supernatural horror movie stars Michael B. Jordan as twin brothers who leave their troubled lives behind to start again in their hometown. However, they discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back. The film also stars Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson Miller, and Li Jun Li. Sinners will hit theaters on April 18th. He’s also part of the ensemble cast of Prime Video’s Anansi Boys, a six-episode series based on the novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman. Production wrapped up two years ago, but due to the sexual assault allegations against Gaiman, it’s not clear when or if we will see the series released.
