Cowboys draft prospect Mike Green addresses sexual assault allegations at scouting combine

The Dallas Cowboys are in the market for a pass rusher in the upcoming NFL Draft, and Marshall’s Mike Green is a potential target. However, questions surround his past, particularly regarding his departure from Virginia in 2022 following sexual assault allegations.

During the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this week, Green directly addressed the accusations, maintaining his innocence. “I haven’t done nothing wrong,” he told reporters.

He would leave! Micah Parsons admits that he would not be part of the Dallas Cowboys if this happens

A top prospect with controversy

Green is considered one of the top defensive prospects in the draft, ranked 17th overall by NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah. In the 2024 college football season, he led the nation with 17 sacks, making him a potential pass-rush partner for DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons in Dallas.

Despite his performance, his past remains a concern for teams. Green was suspended from the Virginia football team in 2023 before transferring to Marshall. Virginia head coach Tony Elliott stated in 2022 that Green was “no longer active” on the team, but the university did not provide further details.

Previous allegations and NFL future

Green acknowledged that he has faced sexual assault allegations twice-once in high school and again in college. However, he insists that he was never officially questioned or investigated. “There’s accusations out there,” Green said. “I’ve never been questioned. I’ve never been asked… it was just accusations that caused me to leave from there.”

Green showcased his talent at the Senior Bowl last month, boosting his draft stock. While some teams may hesitate due to his past, his on-field dominance could make him an early selection. If he is still available, the Cowboys, picking 12th overall, could have a major decision to make on draft night.
