David Beckham may have retired from football, but his competitive spirit is alive and well-even in the kitchen. The former England captain celebrated International Pancake Day on March 4 by flipping pancakes for his family, and he made sure to document the whole experience on Instagram.
In a series of Stories, Beckham, 49, gave fans a glimpse into his breakfast-making process, from prepping the batter to showing off his best pancake flips. But while the golden-brown treats looked flawless at first, things didn’t go exactly as planned.
David Beckham pulls off trick in the kitchen much to Victoria Beckham’s delight
A flip, a fall, and a perfect recovery
At first, Beckham was on top of his game, flipping pancakes high into the air with confidence. He even added a personal touch by decorating them with powdered sugar stencils-one featuring an “H” for his daughter, Harper, 13, and another showcasing the Inter Miami CF logo.
Then came the moment of truth. While recording her dad’s cooking, Harper playfully asked, “Daddy, what are you doing?” Beckham, ever the showman, grinned and said, “It’s Pancake Day!” before attempting another impressive flip. This time, however, his pancake didn’t land quite as smoothly as before.
Harper didn’t hesitate to call him out:“You ruined my pancake.” But Beckham wasn’t fazed. Holding up the slightly imperfect result, he laughed,“Ruined it? That’s perfect.”
Victoria Beckham’s Unexpected Reaction
While Harper might not have been convinced, Victoria Beckham seemed to love the effort. Known for her hands-off approach to cooking, she has admitted in the past that her kitchen duties mainly involve making drinks while leaving the actual food prep to David.
“He’s actually a really good cook,”Victoria has said. “He loves the whole process.” This time, though, his skills were put to the test in a more playful way, and judging by her reaction, she had no complaints.
Cooking runs in the Beckham Family
David’s love for cooking isn’t just a hobby-it’s a tradition. He has spoken before about how food brings his family together, especially during their Sunday roasts and barbecues. Their oldest son, Brooklyn, 26, has even taken it a step further, launching his own hot sauce brand, Cloud 23.
As for David’s Pancake Day performance? It might not have been flawless, but it was certainly entertaining. And if there’s one thing the Beckhams are known for, besides their fashion and football legacies, it’s their ability to turn everyday moments into something worth celebrating.
