Bronny James was in the middle of a controversy in the last couple of days after his father, iconic Los Angeles Lakers player LeBron James, confronted ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith in Madison Square Garden.
The NBA All-Star went at the analyst for criticizing the role he has had in Bronny being part of the Lakers. Smith believes that the rookie does not have the talent to be part of a roster in the league.
Made a statement! Bronny James throws down a monster dunk and forgets about LeBron’s drama
LeBron sees it differently. The superstar, who’s considered one of the best basketball players ever, has said publicly that he believes that his oldest son has more talents than many of the ballers that are currently in the NBA. He has pushed hard for Bronny’s presence in the league.
Bronny has a great performance in the G League
The South Bay Lakers defeated the Motor City Cruise 121-103 Saturday night at home at UCLA Health Training Center.Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James, currently on assignment, tallied 16 points, five rebounds, six assists and one steal in his team’s fourth consecutive win.
During the game, guard Quincy Olivari lobbed a ball to Bronny James, who threw down a monster dunk that had the crowd screaming and jumping. The fascinating play can give the young guard something to smile about after his father’s display of aggressiveness towards TV personalities.
On 8 games played with the South Bay Lakers, Bronny is averaging 33.6 minutes played with 21.1 points, 5.4 rebounds (4.4 of them being deffensive), 5.3 assists, 1.9 steals and 0.3 blocks with 3.3 turnovers. He’s clearly one of the shining stars of his team.
The potential for an NBA future
A Bronny James‘ NBA analysis shows that the young player excels in catch-and-shoot situations and shows great energy and instincts on defense. However, at 6-foot-2, he lacks size at the NBA level, but his athleticism is considered elite. James can handle the ball and is a willing passer but isn’t a true point guard.
Bronny is projected to be a 3-and-D player at the NBA level, drawing comparisons to De’Anthony Melton. However, given his lack of experience in college, James may need to develop in the NBA G League. James’ defensive prowess has drawn comparisons to Patrick Beverley and Jrue Holiday.
The rookie could become a good sixth man for the Los Angeles Lakers or any other NBA team that could give him a chance, but rarely anybody thinks that he would be an iconic player like his father, or even an All-Star caliber player that could lead a franchise to a championship.
