Shaquille O’Neal returns to honorary job leaving his millionaire lifestyle for a cause that fills his heart

Shaquille O’Neal was known as much for his fun-loving attitude as his basketball ability, which is why many analysts and fans believe he’s the most dominant center of all time.

The Orlando Magic made Shaq the number one overall pick of the 1992 NBA Draft, and his impact was immediate, earning Rookie of the Year honors in 1993 and later leading the team to the 1995 NBA Finals.

He would then become a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, where he teamed up with Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson to win three NBA championships in three years. O’Neal was named Finals MVP in each series. Next stop was Miami, where Shaq again earned an NBA title in 2006 and a seventh consecutive spot on the All-NBA First Team.

Shaquille O’Neal is known for his kindness and his random acts of generosity, something that fills his heart. He’s also really big on education, and the NBA legend has said that he wants his kids to get degrees to have any claim to the $500 million of his net worth.

The iconic Los Angeles Lakers center is preparing for his 4th degree, something that has not been easy for the LSU Tigers legend, as he has faced issues during his classes. It is no surprise, then, that his recent philanthropic method is to make sure no other children face the same problems.

He was named director of Community Relations for the Henry County Sheriff’s Office – in Georgia – in 2021 and recentlly, WeNeed2Read Program kicked off a reading initiative at the Shaquille O’Neal Boys & Girls Club of Henry County.

The event was about Read-A-Thon, where more than 500 kids turned up. The initiative was to make sure parents and students from Grades 3 to 8 of Henry County attended the event. The main purpose is for kids to have someone to look up to and make sure that they get an education.

“Diesel” does a great work with his foundation

Along with the community work the big man does, the Shaquille O’Neal Foundation creates pathways for underserved youth to help them achieve their full potential. It works to instill hope and bring about change in communities, collectively shaping a brighter future for the children.

The organization is currently working to build a collaborative facility with Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada and Communities In Schools Nevada to support underserved youth. This multi-million-dollar project will be a flexible space, where BGCSNV will serve 150-180 youth daily after school.

The project will span over 30,000 square feet and house the country’s first-ever CIS Alumni Center. The clubhouse will provide youth in grades K-12 with the academic, social, emotional, recreational, and tech resources needed for youth development.
