Steph Curry sets spectacular NBA record and becomes #1

On the eve of his 37th birthday, Stephen Curry reached new heights as the NBA’s greatest shooter by scoring his 4,000th career three-pointer. He has already scored the most three-pointers in NBA history, making him the first player to reach this figure.

The Sacramento Kings defense did not stray from Curry on Thursday night, doing everything they could to prevent him from achieving the feat. But it was inevitable.

Curry gets the glory in the third quarter

Curry scored his 3,999th three-pointer in the first quarter, with an open transition play after an assist from Jonathan Kuminga.

The big 4,000 had to wait until the second half, as the Kings executed their plan to limit Curry with an over-the-top off-ball defense

In the third quarter, he hit a sidestep three-pointer off the dribble as two defenders rushed to contest the ball. But it was the moment. Straight to the net.

Steph Curry making history

He scored his 2,974th triple, surpassing Ray Allen and becoming the league’s leading scorer in 2021. Since then, every score has marked a new milestone. Los Angeles Clippers guard James Harden has also surpassed Allen. Apart from Curry, Harden is the only player to have scored more than 3,000 three-pointers throughout his career, with 3,127 currently.

On the season, Curry is averaging 24.5 points per game on 39.8% shooting from three-point range. The Warriors are on the rise since they signed Jimmy Butler at the February trade deadline. Golden State is 13-1 in games where Butler has played. They currently have a 37-28 record, which benefits the sixth seed in the Western Conference for the playoffs.

And with each three-pointer, Curry continues to make his way and continues to increase his all-time record. A record that could become unattainable.
