Safe to say that the Golden State Warriors are happy with their decision to acquire Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat.
Steve Kerr’s side were seemingly on course for another disappointing campaign given their play earlier this campaign.
That escalated quickly! Jimmy Butler and Steve Kerr exchange words after a Warriors game
All that has changed since the Warriors acquired Butler back in early February. Butler has settled in nicely alongside Draymond Green and Stephen Curry, and their play has seen the Warriors puts together a run of seven straight wins.
Their latest victory came on Saturday night was they took down the New York Knicks 97-94. It means the Warriors now sit sixth in the Western Conference standings with a 39-28 record.
Butler not putting up big scoring numbers
Butler chipped in with 11 points, six rebounds and seven assists. Although Jimmy hasn’t found his scoring touch since joining the Warriors, their 14-1 record since acquiring the sharpshooter speaks for itself.
After the game Butler addressed how his role has since landing in California.
“I’m not just a scorer,” Butler said as per The Athletic. “I can score whenever I want to. I could shoot the toughest of toughest shots if I wanted to, and nobody’s ever gonna say anything. When it’s my time, you’ll know it’s my time.
“Until then, I’m going to pass the ball to the open man, get my guys some jumpers, get them out in transition, and we gonna keep winning.”
Nevertheless, it’s clear the Warriors are happy with what Butler has brought to the table. Teammate Buddy Hield credited Jimmy with changing the team’s mentality.
“No disrespect to everybody who’s been here [Wiggs, Kyle, Melton, Lindy, Schroderl, I feel like we had it clicking earlier. But after that, it woke up the league again. We just hit a wall. We couldn’t turn it over… Jimmy came here and sold us back in, putting in that championship/winning mindset he’s always known for. The greatness of Steph and Draymond connecting with him. He just settles us down,” said Hield.
