Just when we thought every possible comparison between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo had been made, a brand-new, wildly creative one emerges – straight out of anime.
Messi will give Mahomes and Kelce an experience unlike anything they’ve had with the Chiefs
Messi‘s recent MLS Cup triumph with Inter Miami instantly reignited the endless GOAT debate, especially since Cristiano still hasn’t won a single trophy with Al-Nassr.
The most original comparison we’ve ever heard
Villarreal winger Nicolas Pp delivered the analogy of the year in an interview with Just Riadh, using Goku and Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z (and Naruto/Sasuke) to perfectly sum up the rivalry:
“In interviews you can clearly see Cristiano is the No. 2. You know why? He’s always the one doing the comparing.
You know Dragon Ball Z? You know who Vegeta is? He’s always talking, always measuring himself against someone. And who never talks? Goku.
Same in Naruto: Sasuke talks all the time? Sasuke. Who stays quiet? Naruto.
That’s it: Vegeta is Cristiano – he’s got that frustration that this smaller guy is always one step ahead of him.”
His teammate then jumped in: “And still, he’s the only player in history who’ll reach 1,000 goals.”
The debate will rage forever, everyone has their favorite, but one thing is looking clearer by the day: when it comes to success outside Europe, Messi is pulling further ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Lionel Messi makes MLS history
The 38-year-old Argentine icon and captain of the reigning MLS Cup champions has made history as the league’s first back-to-back MVP, officially announced Tuesday as the winner of MLS’ top individual honor.
Messi, who credited his teammates and insisted the award belonged to the entire group, received the trophy during the opening ceremony of his Messi Cup youth tournament, which began Tuesday. That special setting is also why the league waited until after the season to make the announcement-Messi wanted the moment to be shared with the kids.
