AChicago Bulls jersey worn by Michael Jordan during the 1996-1997 season fetched $4.7 million at auction, Sotheby’s reported Monday.
The auctioneers detailed that Jordan wore the jersey in at least 17 games and that the piece had remained in private hands since the team sold it.
In the same auction, another Jordan jersey from the Bulls’ 1988-1989 campaign fetched $1.1 million.
The US flag with which Jordan covered the Reebok logo in 1992: $1.8 million
The US flag with which Jordan covered the Reebok logo on his jersey at the gold medal ceremony at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, due to his association with Nike, was also made available to buyers.
That flag, with the signatures of the ‘Dream Team’ players, reached 1.8 million.
In total, the objects in the ‘Colossal – The Ultimate Jordan Collection’ at Sotheby’s fetched $8.5 million.
