Pittsburgh Steelers fans are in a strange place right now. While the team’s front office weighs its options at quarterback, two big names remain in limbo: Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson. And as Pittsburgh seemingly waits on Rodgers, Wilson is left wondering where he stands.
According to longtime Steelers insider Gerry Dulac, the former Super Bowl champ already knows where he wants to be next season: right back in Pittsburgh. The question is whether the Steelers feel the same way.

Wilson is ready, but the Steelers are hesitant
Wilson’s free agency has taken him on a mini tour of the AFC and NFC East. He met with the Cleveland Browns last week and then traveled to New York to talk with the Giants. But as Dulac reported in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, he still sees Pittsburgh as his preferred destination.
So far, though, the Steelers aren’t in any rush to make a decision. Dulac noted that the team won’t offer more than a one-year deal to any veteran quarterback-including Rodgers. That hesitation could mean Pittsburgh is preparing to draft its future QB rather than commit to a veteran long-term.
Meanwhile, Wilson is waiting, but how long will he be willing to?
Patience might not pay off for Wilson
The longer Pittsburgh holds out, the more risk they take. Other quarterback-needy teams-like the Giants-could grow more aggressive in their pursuit of Wilson.
On top of that, the Steelers have already locked in a safety net. Last week, they re-signed Mason Rudolph to a two-year deal, a move that suggests they’re comfortable with him as a fallback plan.
So, where does that leave Wilson?
If Rodgers chooses Pittsburgh, Wilson will be out of luck. But if the Steelers decide Rodgers isn’t worth the wait, Wilson could slide right into the role he’s been eyeing all along.
For now, Wilson is playing the waiting game-but in free agency, patience doesn’t always pay off.
