Aaron Rodgers has proved to be a fundamental piece in the New York Jets offense, as he is healthy and it has shown on the field during the first three games of the season, after beating the Tennessee Titans and most recently the New England Patriots on Monday night Football.
However, there could be some tension between the quarterback and his head coach, as after scoring his second touchdown of the game, the cameras focused on both in what many thought was a celebration, but it turned out to be something different.
When leaving the field to make way for the extra point, Robert Saleh tried to give Rodgers a hug, to which the signal caller, instead of reciprocating, stopped his coach by holding his arms to avoid the hug, while making a gesture of rejection and walking away in another direction.
Turns out it might not be a big deal
While it’s really unclear why Aaron Rodgers pulled his coach aside, since he immediately hugged teammate Breece Hall, seemed upset, and apparently said something to Saleh during the game, this happened apparently over something happened during the week.
Robert Saleh was asked about the uncomfortable situation during the postgame press conference and he answered. “Part of the things that we’ve been talking about is giving the defense a two-score lead,” the head coach said. “It was a two-score lead; he just wanted to see something on defense.”
Rodgers’ show ended with the New York Jets winning 24-3 to start Week 3 in the NFL but he also talked about that moment on the field. “He’s not a big hugger,” Aaron joked, when he corroborated Saleh’s story. Maybe it wasn’t such a big deal after all.
