Aaron Rodgers wasn’t ‘dead’ and resurrects on Jets with two-sided game: I was close to perfection

Aaron Rodgers gave Jets fans a reason to believe again, delivering an impressive performance with 15 completions on 18 attempts, three touchdown passes, and 179 passing yards-all in a dominant second-half effort. What started as a shaky first half turned into a pivotal turnaround as Rodgers found his form, guiding the New York Jets to a 21-13 triumph over the AFC South-leading Houston Texans on Thursday night at MetLife Stadium.

This win snapped the Jets‘ five-game losing streak and marked Rodgers as the first Jets quarterback to throw three touchdown passes in a single game since November 2022.

Aaron Rodgers vibes to the beat before each game

A solid display

Rodgers connected with Garrett Wilson for two touchdowns and found Davante Adams for another, showcasing the dynamic playmaking potential that the Jets envisioned when they acquired Adams.

The Jets‘ defense also had a standout night, tallying eight sacks-their season high-and restricting the Texans to a pair of field goals in the second half.

The synergy between Adams and Wilson finally clicked, but Rodgers‘ resurgence took center stage. After struggling through the losing streak with nearly as many interceptions (six) as touchdowns (seven), Rodgers silenced doubts.

“I played about as bad as I could in the first half, and I knew it had to get better from there,” said Rodgers.

“It was kind of season on the line there in the second half. Obviously, we wouldn’t have been mathematically eliminated. But, mentally, to go 2-7 would’ve been real tough.

“Hopefully, this gives us the confidence that we can beat anybody, because we feel we can. The way we played on offense in the second half is the way we’ve been waiting for this offense to kind of wake up. I was close to perfection as I needed to be, but that’s the standard I need to play at.”
