Accomplice in alleged plot to kill Robert Shiver breaks his silence: When she found out she thought, “Kill him”

Terrance “Adrien” Bethel, the accused accomplice and rumored lover of former Georgia beauty queen Lindsay Shiver, has declared his innocence in connection with an alleged murder-for-hire plot targeting her estranged husband, Robert Shiver.

Bethel, along with Shiver and alleged hitman Faron “Faylo” Newbold, was arrested in July 2023 after authorities uncovered their purported conspiracy during a separate investigation into a break-in at a bar where Bethel was employed.

The plot reportedly came to light when police discovered text messages that detailed the assassination plan, including a shocking WhatsApp message from Lindsay Shiver, which stated “Kill him” and included a photo of Robert with another woman.

In an interview with Good Morning America, Bethel defended Shiver’s message, claiming it was born out of concern for their children’s safety.

“She sends the picture that was just sent to her,” Bethel explained.

“When she found out he was there and the kids were home, that’s when she’s like, ‘kill him.'”

What happened at the trial?

As Lindsay Shiver prepared to return to Nassau for a pre-trial court hearing scheduled for October 5, Bethel reiterated his assertion of innocence.

“I’m definitely not guilty of conspiracy to commit murder,” he stated, also clearing Newbold of any wrongdoing as a hired hitman.

“It’s time to let the world know that we’re innocent.”

Lindsay Shiver reportedly admitted to investigators that her messages were sent in a moment of frustration following an argument with her husband, whom she wed in 2010.

Bethel downplayed the gravity of the texts, arguing that “everybody says things out of frustration” that are often taken out of context.

“None of us have anything to hide,” he added during a previous interview with the Daily Mail in August.

Sources indicated that Shiver was leading a “double life,” dividing her time between a luxurious home in Thomasville, Georgia, and a second residence in the exclusive Baker’s Bay enclave in the Bahamas. It was during these visits that she allegedly began her affair with Bethel.

Meanwhile, Robert Shiver, who captained the Auburn University football team, has moved on and started dating Savannah Chrisley in September 2023, just two months after surviving the alleged murder plot. After going undrafted in the 2009 NFL Draft, he signed with the Atlanta Falcons and later became executive vice president for Senior Life Insurance Company.

As Lindsay Shiver awaits her trial scheduled for March 2025, she has been staying with her parents in Alabama and has received permission from a Georgia judge to travel to visit her children. The case continues to unfold, attracting public interest as legal proceedings progress.
