A’ja Wilson reacts with pride and humor after her boyfriend Bam Adebayo scores 83 points

A historic scoring night from Bam Adebayo quickly turned into a proud and playful moment for A’ja Wilson, who reacted with humor after her boyfriend delivered one of the most remarkable performances in basketball history.

The Miami Heat center stunned fans by pouring in 83 points during a 150-129 victory over the Washington Wizards, instantly igniting conversations throughout the basketball world.

While the extraordinary scoring display dominated headlines, attention also turned toward Wilson, who was watching from the sidelines as Adebayo produced the game of his career.

After the final buzzer, she reacted in a lighthearted way on social media, acknowledging the record night while joking that the milestone changed the dynamic inside their household.

“Welp, won’t have the highest career high in the house anymore, but at least it gives me something to go after,” Wilson wrote on X.com, formerly known as Twitter.

The comment quickly spread among fans because Wilson herself holds a historic scoring performance, having produced a 53-point game in the WNBA while playing for the Las Vegas Aces.

Her reaction continued during the post-game press conference, where she praised Adebayo‘s effort while also acknowledging the role faith played in his extraordinary performance.

“God is really just really special for him and God doesn’t play about Bam,” Wilson said in the post-match press conference.

The night also carried historical significance beyond their relationship, because Adebayo‘s 83 points placed him among the most memorable scoring performances ever recorded in the league.

Bam Adebayo joins historic company alongside Wilt Chamberlain and Kobe Bryant

With the performance, Adebayo moved into second place on the NBA‘s single-game scoring list, surpassing the famous 81-point game delivered by Kobe Bryant in 2006.

Only the legendary 100-point game recorded by Wilt Chamberlain in 1962 now stands above Adebayo‘s total in league history.

The statistical line behind the record added to the spectacle, as Adebayo finished the game with 83 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks.

He also connected on 20 of his 43 field-goal attempts, knocked down seven three-pointers, and repeatedly reached the free-throw line throughout the night.

In fact, the Heat star converted 36 of 43 free throws, setting new league marks for both attempts and makes during a single NBA game.

Those trips to the foul line came partly because Washington constantly sent extra defenders toward him, sometimes surrounding him with multiple players in an attempt to slow the scoring surge.

The explosive performance began early, as Adebayo scored 31 points in the opening quarter and reached 43 points by halftime, already exceeding his previous career high of 41.

Reflecting on the performance afterward, Adebayo credited those around him for helping create the moment while celebrating the emotional significance of the night.

“They are like my second family, I couldn’t do it without them, thanks to the coach for drawing plays for me,” Adebayo said, very emotional and surrounded by his teammates at the end of this historic match.

The Heat center also explained that the scale of the performance became clear midway through the game, when he realized that a truly special night was unfolding.

Adebayo said that he began to see this feat possible when he had 43 points at halftime and did not hesitate to put this game at number one of the best of his career.
