Angel Reese is now venturing into soccer by investing in the DC Power Football Club. The former LSU star is the latest to join the ownership team of the pro soccer organization, located roughly an hour from her Maryland hometown, with the team being set to compete in the USL Super League soon.
Reese, who plays as a power forward and averages 11.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game so far in her rookie season with the Chicago Sky, will be collaborating with owners from the D.C. United Men’s Club and prominent business figures in the DMV region.
“Angel’s decision to be a founding investor alongside us in Power FC is groundbreaking,” Jason Levien, D.C. United CEO and Co-Chairman, said in a statement.
“As a Maryland native, Angel is so passionate about being a catalyst for positive change in women’s sports in the DMV as well as globally, while inspiring the next generation of female athletes. We’re looking forward to her partnership in the boardroom as an equity partner.”
Pleased to help in women’s soccer growth
Having been selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Reese is now passionate about her new venture and eager to champion women’s sports. It should be noted that details of her financial stake in the club have not been disclosed.
“I want to help grow women’s sports and elevate female athletes across the board,” Reese said.
“We’re taking over, and I’m honored to be able to support Power FC and invest in women’s soccer in the DMV community.”
