Angel Reese named one of the top sports promises over NBA champion, Celtic fans don’t forgive her

Angel Reese is one of the most polarizing figures in today’s sport. Her fans and haters often engage in intense online wars at the slightest provocation. But who wins or loses when the Chicago Sky star meets another of the most controversial figures in the sport? The result will surprise you.

A few days ago, the Bleacher Report portal released its list of the 25 best athletes of the next 25 years. Victor Wenbanyama, center of the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA, leads the list; Caitlin Clark, guard of the Indiana Fever of the WNBA, is second; and Connor Bedard, star of the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL, is third.

Reese came in at number 23 on the list, one spot above Jayson Tatum, the recent NBA champion with the Boston Celtics. This result caused an immediate reaction among Reese’s critics, who did not hesitate for a second to blast the list and Reese herself.

The reaction of the Internet users

The X (formerly Twitter) Celtics Unite account lit the spark by publishing some screenshots of the BR list, captioning it “The most direspectful thing I’ve ever seen,” referring to the places occupied by Reese and Tatum.

“No way, lol???” and “This is real?” were two of the first comments that showed the users’ disagreement. But the harshest comments were not long in coming. “Angel Reese is absolute garbage. Tatum is too but doesn’t deserve to be lower than Angel,” said an enraged fan.

“NBA champion Jayson Tatum is under Angel Reese?????” said a second, and a third went further, saying, “Threw up when I saw this and I dislike Tatum.” “Angel Reese isn’t even meant to be in Top-100, bro,” said another, “I’m a Celtics hater and even I can admit this is f*cking absurd,” noted another.

There was no shortage of defenders for Angel

Amid the avalanche of negative comments, there was also no shortage of those defending the Chicago forward. “Angel Reese is Top-5 in the WNBA. Tatum isn’t Top-5,” recalled one user, “Angel Reese is more valuable to her team than Tatum,” agreed another.

Others complained that their favorite player was left out, while others considered the list itself to be wrong. Although these lists depend a lot on speculation and what the author wants to see in them, they are also often a call to action for haters of one or another athlete, as Angel Reese has just demonstrated.
