Anthony Edwards is one of the most exciting players to watch in the NBA and even though the Minnesota Timberwolves are having an average season so far (they are currently sitting at .500 with a 14-14 record, which puts tem at 11th place in the Western Conference), “Ant-Man” is still showing a lot of talent and athleticism night after night.

The Timberwolves’ first 28 games of the 2024-2025 season have been defined by isolation and listlessness. Minnesota has the league’s fifth-best defense with a 108.0 defensive rating and ranks 21st on offense with a 110.6 offensive rating.

But somehow the team hasn’t been able to find its rhytm and things seemed to hit a low point when the Timberwolves traded star Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks for Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo on October 3rd.

Anthony Edwards gets a very special visit

Minnesota traveled to Atlanta this Monday to play the Hawks at State Farm Arena. Even though the Timberwolves lost 117-104 in part because of Trae Young’s 29 points in addition to Garrison Mathews’ 25 points, Anthony Edwards had plenty of reasons to celebrate before the game started.

“Ant-Man” was warming up when he spotted a very special person sitting courtside: his grandfather Ben Edwards. As soon as he recognized his beloved family member, Edwards couldn’t hide his excitement as he started jumping and headed over to hug his grandpa.

The two exchanged words and the NBA superstar was full of joy as he couldn’t hide his happiness. This was the first time that Ben Edwards attended his grandson’s game since high school.

“Ben didn’t get out to many of Ant’s games as he was growing up, so tonight is a special one for Ant. His arrival was kept a surprise until this moment.” wrote sideline reporter for the Minnesota Star Tribune Chris Hine.

According to the reporter, Ben Edwards told “Ant-Man” that he needed to get out there and kick a** because that would have made him very happy. “Ant-Man” had an OK game, recording 16 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals, but he also had five turnovers and he didn’t get much help from his teammates with the exception of Naz Reid (23 points) and Julius Randle (19 points).

“Ant-Man” gets fined for public criticism of officiating

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been fined $75,000 for public criticism of the officiating and using inappropriate and profane language, it was announced this Monday by Joe Dumars, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations.

Edwards’ comments came during postgame media availability following the Timberwolves’ 113-103 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Dec. 21 at Target Center, in Minneapolis.

Edwards said after the game the officials were “f***ing terrible. All of them, except the woman.” It’s the second time he’s been fined for criticizing the officiating; he was previously fined $40,000 for comments made in January last season.
