Everything is set for the Kansas City Chiefs to face the Houston Texans this Saturday in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs. Patrick Mahomes is back from his injury, Travis Kelce is back after a modest season, and Arrowhead Stadium is back to its full splendor after several weeks of bad weather.
The January 18 game against the Texans will mark the Chiefs’ return to their home after almost a month away. The last time head coach Andy Reid’s team played at Arrowhead was on December 21, in a 27-19 win over Houston in Week 16.
In all this time, the Arrowhead turf was well protected from the elements, thanks to the groundskeeping team. What’s more, it’s already in top condition despite the inclement winter weather in Kansas City.

An incredible transformation
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Arrowhead’s head groundskeeper, Travis Hogan, congratulated his team for the excellent maintenance work. “Shout out to all the Ops staff, along with my crew, for what the last 2 weeks have entailed.”
Hogan listed the conditions they had to deal with. “Crazy cold temps, snow removal out of the stadium, rain tarps off after 7 days down, and then, grow tarps off on Wednesday.” He admitted that the grass suffered minor damage but assured that it is now ready for the game against Houston.
In a couple of images, Hogan showed the before and after of the field. In the first one, you can see the grass somewhat yellowed from almost a week without sun and with the tips a little burned. In a follow-up post, you can see the field greened up and in perfect condition.
Fans are ecstatic
The Chiefs Kingdom could not help but congratulate the team for their work. “Travis, that field looks immaculate! Amazing work, as always,” said one fan, “She looks beautiful! Thank you to you and your crew!” exclaimed another, and “Field looks gorgeous!! Great job to all involved,” said a third.
Called GEHA Field for sponsorship reasons, the Chiefs’ stadium is now ready to witness yet another battle by its team in search of an unprecedented three-peat. Now, it is up to the players whether the stadium will celebrate a victory or mourn a defeat.
