AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, was the scene of a concerning incident during the game against the Houston Texans on Monday night. A piece of metal fell from the stadium’s roof, but fortunately, no injuries or significant damage occurred.
The object fell shortly before the game began, causing alarm among those present at the stadium. However, local authorities have assured that there are no structural issues with the stadium.
The authorities clarified the facts
A spokesperson for the City of Arlington explained that the city’s building inspector and deputy fire marshal conducted a thorough review of the venue after the incident.
“The stadium is safe,” the representative stated. “We are confident there are no structural issues with the venue or its retractable roof.”
The object that fell from the roof was a cover for a cable tray located in the upper part of the stadium. According to authorities, the cover was moved by wind gusts when the roof of the stadium was opening.
“The metal piece that fell onto the field was a covering lid to a cable tray that was moved by wind gusts as the roof was opening,” the city explained in a statement.
After the incident, the cable tray covers were reviewed and further secured to prevent future problems. Additionally, it was made clear that there are no other concerns about the stadium’s structure. “The lids have been secured, and we do not expect any more issues in the future,” added the spokesperson.
Jerry Jones confirms that the stadium’s structure was not damaged
Jerry Jones, owner of the Cowboys, also addressed the matter, assuring that both he and the NFL found no risk to the players or the public after the incident.
“There was no risk at all to anyone on the field,” said Jones, who also highlighted that the stadium’s roof was closed immediately after the event to ensure safety.
Although this incident was concerning, it did not affect the structure of the stadium, and local authorities have reaffirmed that AT&T Stadium remains safe for future events.
The Cowboys‘ performance this season continues to be a topic of concern, as the team is currently 0-5 at home. Despite this, both the safety of the stadium and the confidence of officials do not appear to be in question.
