The Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ Baker Mayfield celebrated escaping an NFL suspension with an adorable photo with his newborn daughter as the quarterback father was caught using nicotine during a game.
The incident took place during their narrow defeat to the Baltimore Ravens, in which the headlines were actually dominated by a season-ending injury to Chris Godwin, as he faced a brush with violating league policy.
However, the 29-year-old, who has been a revelation in Tampa this season, dodged a ban and received only a warning not to use the substance again, meaning he’s free to continue spurring on the offense for the rest of the campaign.
And he celebrated that news with a cute photo of himself and his infant daughter, only months old, as they cuddled in her playpen and looked lovingly into each other’s eyes as the wife and mother, Emily, watched her family.
“Are you claustrophobic?” Emily asked Mayfield in the video via Instagram, receiving no response. “Koko is daddy in your playpen?”
Mayfield’s bond with his daughter is so strong that the Buccaneers’ head coach, Todd Bowles, said that she’s the only one who can keep his nerves instantly in check.
“The only person that can calm Baker down is his newborn,” Bowles told reporters, to which Emily hilarious questioned her own position with her husband by wondering if she was chopped liver.
Emily and Mayfield began dating in 2017 and got married two years later after a quick engagement, taking place after just six months, with their daughter being born in April 2024 just over a year after he made the switch to Florida.
