At Barcelona, everyone is awaiting confirmation of Xavi‘s dismissal, which Joan Laporta is expected to announce in the next few days having already communicated to the coach that his time is up.
The president is going to end the contractual relationship with the coach from Terrassa and, in addition, he has already signed Hansi Flick.
In any case, there are still those at the club who are not so clear about the departure of the former Catalan midfielder, because they do not rule out a change in the approach of the agent and because the severance agreement of the current coach may be complicated.
Flick is waiting for a call from Barcelona to confirm that he will succeed Xavi. The German coach and the Catalan club have had talks in recent days that have served to verify the good understanding between the two parties, particularly on the terms of the contract.
If the arrival of the former German national team coach is confirmed, Laporta will be fulfilling one of his dreams, as since his return to the presidency he has been committed to the German way in the Barcelona dugout.
Julian Nagelsmann, Thomas Tuchel, Flick and Jurgen Klopp have all been to his liking and formed part of his manager search. However, mainly for economic reasons, he finally opted for Xavi.
Xavi set to leave Barcelona
Flick is now incredibly close to Barcelona but for his arrival to become a reality, Xavi‘s departure must first take place.
His dismissal would cost approximately 20 million euros (between his conditions and those of all his staff).
But, in addition, Barcelona must communicate to him that they do not count on him and, to date, he has not been summoned to meet with Laporta, although the manager’s intention is to do so on Monday, once the last LaLiga match at the Sanchez Pizjuan against Sevilla has been played.
In the meantime, Xavi is leading the training session, aware that he is probably living his last hours as Barcelona coach. On Saturday at 13:00 CEST, he is scheduled to give a press conference, the usual pre-match press conference.
