Brittany and Patrick Mahomes are never far from the limelight, having gone from high school sweethearts to one of the NFL’s it couples.
The two compliment one another, with Patrick being the star of the Kansas City Chiefs and Brittany, who has her own past in sports, by his side.
While Patrick was perhaps more accustomed to the limelight given his father was a professional baseball player, Brittany has had to adjust to her celebrity status.
She recently sat down with WHOOP founder and CEO Will Ahmed and discussed what it’s been like to adjust to the fame and constantly being in the limelight, crediting Patrick for helping her adjust.
“I think we kind of got thrown into the fire together and that’s what helped us do so well in life that we are,” said Brittany.
“He’s a lot better at it than I’m because his dad played professional sports. So he was around it and understood it a lot more than I did. Having him help me get through it has helped a lot because he’s very good at managing those things and blocking people out.”
Patrick’s advice for Brittany
Not all the attention is positive, with Brittany sometimes the target of hateful comments from fans on social media.
However she credits Patrick’s advice of ignoring what others have to say and simply not caring, which hasn’t always been easy to do.
“I think the main thing that he always told me is to stop caring what people think, especially those that don’t even know you,” Brittany said.
“Social media used to get to me a lot and now it’s just like honestly I don’t give a f*** what people have to say about me anymore.”
