The G League witnessed Bronny James’ best performance of the season so far. The South Bay Lakers point guard scored 31 points in his team’s 122-110 win over the Rip City Remix. LeBron’s son shot 10/22 from the field, including 5/11 from three-point range. He also grabbed two rebounds, dished out three assists and recovered two balls.
Spanish player Isaac Nogues, who plays for the Blazers’ affiliate team, failed to score but again demonstrated his versatility with nine rebounds, 11 assists and two steals. Playing 41 minutes, he was the longest-serving player on the court.
Bronny left signs of his powerful physique, as in a huge dunk in which with his 188 centimeters he went straight to the hoop to slam the ball against the defense of Sterling Manley and unleash madness among his teammates. “I’m having fun. Every time I play basketball, every time I’m out here breathing, every time I’m out here walking… I’m grateful for everything,” he said after his performance.
The point guard is barely having any prominence with the Lakers, with whom he has participated in 12 regular season games with averages of 0.3 points, 0.2 rebounds and 0.3 assists in just 2.4 minutes. In the G League, he has more prominence and in the seven games played he is averaging 13.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 26.9 minutes.
He was seen as a lure for the All-Star
The NBA wanted Bronny to participate in some events during the All-Star that will be held in San Francisco between February 14 and 16. His media power, being the son of who he is, is undeniable, and he was wanted as one more attraction, but the young man has turned down the invitation. He had been proposed to be part of the ‘Rising Stars’ team, where there will be promising young players, and also to be in the skills contest alongside LeBron.
It would have been a new milestone for the James family, becoming the first father-son duo to participate in All-Star events. The patriarch will be in the All-Star Game. At 40 years of age, it will be his 21st appearance as a starter in the event.
