Bronny James is a perfect deal for the Lakers: The millions LeBron James’ son generates

Bronny James might not be lighting up the court for the Los Angeles Lakers but their second pick in the 2024 NBA Draft continues to prove his value through impressive shirt sales generating millions of dollars.

The 20-year-old son of LeBron struggled for form in the professional league and was swiftly sent to the G League to continue to develop his offensive capabilities, despite making history as part of the first father-son duo in the NBA.

But regardless of whether the Lakers think he will become a useful player for them in their quest for rings, the USC Trojans‘ graduate has already proven his worth commercially by making the team over $50 million dollars.

Some 500,000 jerseys featuring Bronny‘s name have been sold since he was picked by the illustrious Californian franchise, each at $100 apiece, meaning the Lakers have already made a $42m+ profit over the contract they offered him.

Notably, the revenue from jersey sales eclipses even that of his father. The youngster smashed LeBron’s record for sales as a rookie, which is no easy feat to accomplish considering the hype around the 40-year-old overall first pick in 2003.

Bronny comes to life

Even after being sent to the G League to continue to figure out how to start being productive on the offense, Bronny appeared to be struggling with the South Bay Lakers.

But now it seems as though that is firmly behind him after he put on an exceptional show against the Valley Suns, posting 30 points with 57% shooting.

His overall numbers for the season are now 14 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game and 2.5 assists per game and whilst they’re still some way off the standards expected in the NBA, they do prove that the youngster is trending in the right direction.
