Bronny James shows what he’s truly capable of and LeBron can’t help but grin

It’s always going to be an enjoyable night for LeBron James when his team wins, and he gets to watch his son, Bronny James, get minutes of NBA action. After all, this is what The King was holding out on retirement for: to play with his son and win another ring.

While the latter is yet to be determined – whether it’s with the Los Angeles Lakers this season, another team next year or won’t happen again – LeBron can feel proud that Bronny has held on to his Lakers roster spot. Making it all more sweet is when Bronny does something special with his limited playing time, and he certainly did that on Friday night.

The Lakers crushed the Washington Wizards on the road, beating one of the worst teams in the league by a score of 142-111. LeBron, Luka Doncic and Deandre Ayton all went over 20 points, paving the way for Bronny to get mop-up duty in the fourth quarter. And he made his presence felt.

Bronny James showcases his defense and athletic ability in limited playing time

James scooped up a deflected pass and was off to the races, going all the way to the hoop and throwing down a fierce dunk that had his teammates hyped up. LeBron couldn’t help but smile and enjoy the moment.

That kind of play is a microcosm of the ideal player Bronny can be: a defensive menace with great athletic ability. He may never turn into an All-Star, but Bronny has the pedigree and talent to carve out a strong role in the NBA. It’s going to come down to whether he develops as expected or not.
