Bronny James under fire for his performance in his first NBA start with the Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers secured the No. 3 seed on Saturday night with a victory over the Houston Rockets, which forced them to rest most of their key players on Sunday against the Portland Trail Blazers in the team’s final regular season game.

With LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, Austin Reaves, Dorian Finney-Smith, Jarred Vanderbilt, Jaxson Hayes, Gabe Vincent and others injured, rookie Bronny James got his first NBA start, but it didn’t go particularly well for him.

With the Lakers’ 109-81 loss, James played 38 minutes and recorded just four points, three rebounds, six assists, four steals and three turnovers, shooting 2-of-10 from the field and 0-of-2 from three-point range.

His performance drew criticism from NBA fans, especially those who had bet on his first start.

“Bronny James has no idea about basketball! He can’t finish near the rim or shoot well and is a defensive drag,” one fan said.

“I don’t know why I bet on Bronny James,” posted another fan.

Bronny James is a rookie, he should stay in the G League. He’s definitely a better player there, right?” added another.

Another fan commented: “This could be the end of Bronny James’ career.”
