The 2024 NBA Draft is just days away, which means fans and executives will finally have a resolution to the ongoing Bronny James saga. LeBron James‘ oldest son is poised to enter the NBA after one inconclusive season at USC, and LeBron‘s Los Angeles Lakers are poised to select him with one of their two picks.
Bronny‘s draft eligibility has been met with optimism and pessimism over his pro prospects. Despite a strong showing at the Draft Combine, Bronny’s inconsistent season at USC has divided opinion over his NBA future. But few have heard what Bronny’s coach with the Trojans had to say about his lone season in the NCAA.
Andy Enfield pulls back the curtain on Bronny
Andy Enfield was Bronny’s head coach during his freshman season at USC, after which Enfield left to take the job at Southern Methodist University. In an interview earlier this year, Enfield sounded off on Bronny — and made it clear how he feels about LeBron‘s son.
“He’s never wavered from being a great teammate and working extremely hard in practice, and you can count on him as an individual,” Enfield told InsideTroy.
Bronny averaged fewer than five points per game for USC, as the Trojans endured a disappointing season and missed the NCAA Tournament. But Enfield revealed that Bronny maintained professionalism and a team-first mentality despite the disappointment on the court — and a life-threatening cardiac event he suffered last summer.
“A lot of positive things to say about who he is as a person, his character, how he buys into the team concept,” Enfield said in March.
If Bronny can bring the mentality Enfield describes to the NBA, not only will he be drafted — he could become a valuable role player and fashion himself a nice, long career.
