Iowa basketball star Caitlin Clark has never been shy about showing her love for the Kansas City Chiefs, and she made it clear once again this weekend with a playful dig at her former teammate, Gabbie Marshall. As Marshall cheered on her favorite NFL team, the Cincinnati Bengals, Clark took the opportunity to poke some fun after the Bengals fell to the Baltimore Ravens in an overtime thriller.
Clark shared a photo of Marshall on her Instagram story, adding a humorous caption to remind everyone where her NFL loyalty lies. The former Hawkeye standout, now in her rookie season with the Indiana Fever, has been a vocal supporter of the Chiefs for years, frequently attending games and even trading jerseys with star receiver Rashee Rice.
Though the Chiefs and Bengals didn’t face off this past weekend, the two teams have a budding rivalry, and Clark couldn’t resist using her social media platform to get a friendly jab in. Unfortunately for Marshall, her Bengals weren’t as lucky, losing 41-38 to the Ravens in overtime, despite forcing a late turnover.
Chiefs kingdom backs Clark
Kansas City’s love for Clark is mutual. The Chiefs publicly supported her during Iowa’s run to the Final Four, even posting a throwback photo of Clark as a child wearing Chiefs gear. “You cheered for us. Now it’s our turn,” the team said, rallying all of Chiefs Kingdom to root for Clark during her big game.
As Clark continues to shine on the basketball court, her NFL fandom remains front and center. Kansas City, currently 4-0, is looking to keep its perfect season alive as they take on the New Orleans Saints in their upcoming Monday Night Football matchup. Will Clark be tuning in? If her Instagram is any indication, there’s no doubt about it.
