Now that we are all approaching the change of an era in NBA Basketball, we are all searching for those great players who can become the new face of the league. And we ar not talking about the dominance Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, and Gianni Antetokounmpo had over the last five seasons. We are talking about that generational player who will come to mark the new era, those honors currently belong to LeBron James and Stephen Curry. Before them, there were Shaq, Tim Duncan, and Kobe Bryant. Even beofre that, there was Michael Jordan. In today’s NBA, we already have Dallas MAvericks’ Luka Doncic beginning to make history but there are a couple more young players who will mark a new era while Victor Wembanyama improves.
After Victor reaches his full potential, there seems to be no other player with the potential this French kid has. While that happens, we know that both Zion Williamson and Ja Morant are busts while they get their careers back on track. That leavesJayson Tatum at the Boston Celtics, a true super star who delivers bonkers stats on a consistent basis. One would think that after winning the NBA title with the Celtics, Tatum would be considered the potential new face of the NBA. But there is a similar feeling amongst fans and knowledged NBA celebrities alike. Unless you are a Boston Celtics fan, you probably don’t think he is the potential new face of the league. There are other names that come in mind.
Carmelo Anthony picks another young star over Jayson Tatum
There is one player right now, aside from Luka Doncic who is currently being considered the new face of the NBA. His name is Anthony Edawrds, he is the Minnesota Timberwolves’ star and led the team all last season to the Playoffs after finishing 1st overall seed in the regular season. For NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, being the face of the NBA requires something Edwards has and Tatum lacks. Speaking on his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Melo said: “The reason why we put Anthony Edwards there is because of his aura. If JT had that aura, it’s over.” These two are about to represent Team USA at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
