Christmas is almost here and the ‘Inside the NBA’ crew were in the holiday spirit on Thursday as they discussed their plans and gifts for the special day.
Shaquille O’Neal is known for his gift-giving around the holidays, and to the surprise of no-one that was a talking point for the crew.
However, it seems Charles Barkley doesn’t want much from Shaq these holidays, telling the former NBA star that he’d rather get money from him this year.
It all started when Kenny Smith praised Shaq for being Shaq-a-Claus to kids, as he send gifts to children who need them across the country each year to make sure they aren’t left out.
However, Shaq seems to have a different approach when it comes to giving gifts to his co-stars, which Kenny pointed out.
“You do them so much differently than you do us. You give them real gifts. You give us gifts that you only endorse and that you get for free,” said Smith.
Barkley joined in by stating Shaq only gets them gifts from brands he has a stake in, like Icy Hot. While Shaq tried to defend himself by stating that he had to buy the gifts even though he endorses them, the rest of the crew weren’t having it.
Barkley states what he wants from Shaq
From there Adam Lefkoe asked Barkley what he wants from Shaq, and he was direct in his answer.
“Well, cash is always king,” replied Barkley.
It isn’t the first time Barkley has called out Shaq for his gift-giving to the crew. During an appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’, Barkley noted that he wasn’t expecting much from Shaq for his 60th birthday given his gift-giving track record.
“That’s the only thing that bothers me about Shaq. He never gives you like an original gift,” said Barkley.
Joking aside, Barkley did praise Shaq for the work he does to make sure children aren’t left out for the holidays.
“I think it’s amazing that you do that big fella…To see the joy on these kids’ faces, man. Every kid, I just hope y’all have a great Christmas. It’s really about you guys, the young girls and young men,” said Barkley.
