Charles Barkley just couldn’t help himself.
Back in San Antonio for the NCAA men’s basketball championship festivities, the NBA legend and TNT analyst reignited his long-running-and wildly controversial-feud with the city’s women, dropping a now-viral bombshell comment during Sunday night’s Capital One JamFest.
“Y’all got some big bitches here,” Barkley said with a grin, drawing massive cheers-and gasps-from the crowd.
The moment, caught on video and already making the rounds online, marked the return of Barkley’s infamous “big ol’ women” jokes aimed at San Antonio, a bit he was reportedly told to retire years ago amid accusations of fat-shaming.
Barkley against cancel culture
Back in 2021, Barkley claimed that cancel culture had forced TNT to silence his comedic jabs after a local paper called him out. “You can’t even have fun nowadays without these jackasses trying to get you canceled,” he said at the time.
But with a live mic and no corporate suits in sight, the 62-year-old clearly saw an opportunity to revive the bit-and ran with it. The moment came just a day after his alma mater, Auburn, was eliminated from the Final Four by Florida, but Barkley didn’t seem to be in low spirits.
The joke may have landed with the live audience, but critics are already slamming him online for doubling down on what many see as outdated and offensive humor. Still, Barkley has never been one to hold back-and it looks like he’s not about to start now.
Love him or hate him, Chuck knows how to stir the pot.
