Chicago Fire intensifies pursuit of Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski

Chicago Fire are determined to sign Robert Lewandowski and have stepped up their pursuit of the Barcelona striker with a formal contract offer as they attempt to land a global star ahead of the MLS summer window.

The U.S. club has maintained contact with Lewandowski since late last year and recently presented a two-year proposal designed to position the Polish forward as the centerpiece of the franchise once his current Bara deal expires at the end of the season.

The push reflects Chicago’s broader strategy to reshape its roster by attracting marquee talent. According to SPORTS analyst Tomas Andreu, efforts to court Lewandowski have included multiple meetings involving key figures in his decision-making circle.

The Fire is playing all its cards to secure Lewandowski

His wife, Anna, visited Chicago in November and toured residential areas, while club representatives later held talks in Barcelona. Additional discussions have followed, including a recent London meeting between Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, and Fire owner Joe Mansueto.

Chicago is also highlighting cultural and sporting ties in its pitch. The city hosts one of the largest Polish communities in the United States and has previously featured prominent Polish players, factors viewed as potential incentives for the striker’s family.

The pursuit comes after Chicago explored moves for several other high-profile players – including Neymar, Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah and Bernardo Silva – without success. Securing Lewandowski would mark a significant breakthrough in its effort to raise the club’s profile.

Berhalter has praised Lewandowski

Head coach Gregg Berhalter declined to comment directly on negotiations but praised the veteran forward’s record. “He’s a fantastic player,” Berhalter said, noting Lewandowski’s prolific scoring across Europe’s top leagues over the past decade and a half.

With negotiations ongoing, the potential transfer remains uncertain, but Chicago’s sustained campaign underscores its intent to make the Polish international the face of its next era.
