It’s a crucial offseason for the Kansas City Chiefs. Following a Super Bowl loss in which the Philadelphia Eagles truly dismantled them, the Chiefs’ front office is now under pressure to plug the holes that were exposed by the NFC champions.
The team has made some moves in free agency, primarily shuffling around the concerning offensive line, but they’ve also seen some core players leave. With the main wave of free agency in the rearview mirror, the front office’s attention will now turn to available veterans and the 2025 NFL Draft. The draft may be more important than in past years, as the roster is aging a bit and the team needs more youth and explosiveness at key positions. The issue is that the Chiefs won’t have too many chances in April.

Football Perspective‘s draft value chart puts the Chiefs at 23rd overall in terms of how much draft capital they will have in the upcoming event. They will have to really hit home runs with their limited chances.
As Chris Trapasso points out, the Buffalo Bills have the most draft capital of any playoff team from last season. That should give them a leg up on their competition, although they only rank middle of the pack. Still, with Josh Allen under contract and willing to make some sacrifices to sign key free agents, having the extra draft capital could really help the team going forward.
The Chiefs do have eight draft picks, which is generally a good amount, but three of those are in the 7th round. Since they made the Super Bowl, the Chiefs draft late in every round, except for an extra 3rd round pick they got from the Tennessee Titans. But after their 4th round selection at 133rd overall, they won’t pick again until 226. Don’t be surprised if GM Brett Veach moves around the draft board with a pair of trades.
