It is a hard time to be a San Francisco 49ers fan right now, as they continue to suffer with injuries. Christian McCaffrey will likely sit out one more week, as the team prepares to face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
The Offensive Player of the Year in 2023 has been struggling to return from an Achilles tendonitis since Week 1. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said he “would be surprised” if McCaffrey can play this Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.
However, there is hope, as Shanahan said that Christian McCaffrey has a “better chance” of playing in Week 10 after the 49ers’ bye in Week 9. So, the running back could return for the November 10 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The injuries are piling up
If CMC returns to practice, the Niners are required to activate him within 21 days or he will not be available for the rest of the year, returning to the team’s injured reserve. So, there is a strong chance that he will be back in early November.
Brandon Aiyuk has a torn ACL and is done for the season and Deebo Samuel is suffering with pneumonia, so the return of CMC will definitely help but they will need more.
Christian McCaffrey led the NFL with 1,459 rushing yards in 2023 but has yet to play a single game with the team this year. In his place, Jordan Mason has excelled at running back, leading the league with 667 rushing yards and three touchdowns in seven games.
