This is not good news for the Los Angeles Clippers, as star player Kawhi Leonard would be out indefinitely and will miss the start of the NBA regular season. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation due to serious inflammation of his right knee.
Leonard already missed the entire preseason, and has not participated in any on-court activities with the team. The coaching staff seeks to be cautious to ensure the physical condition of its star in the long term.
“It hasn’t been part of what we’ve been doing on a daily basis. I know the company’s directive has been that we’re going to be patient with him. So he’s doing everything he can to rehab and strengthen that knee on his own with our medical staff,” Clippers assistant coach Brian Shaw said.
This is not a new injury
This injury dates back to last season, in which Kawhi Leonard had already missed the last eight games of the regular season and was in a very poor state of health in the two postseason games in which he participated against the Dallas Mavericks.
Last month, Leonard had expressed his desire not to miss games this season, but noted that his body has already suffered multiple injuries in the past. Now things look different for him and the team.
The Clippers will begin the regular season on October 23 against the Phoenix Suns, in which it will be the first official game played at the Intuit Dome, the new home of the Los Angeles team.
