The Dallas Cowboys are actively seeking offensive reinforcements, and all signs point toward a potential reunion with veteran wide receiver Amari Cooper.
With free agency well underway, Cooper remains unsigned, raising speculation that a return to Dallas could be in the cards.

Cooper’s journey since leaving the Cowboys
After being traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2022, Cooper continued to produce at a high level, posting back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. In 2024, he was dealt to the Buffalo Bills mid-season, where injuries and a new system hampered his production. He finished the year with 547 yards and four touchdowns-numbers well below his usual standards.
Despite a down year, Cooper has proven he can still be a valuable asset in the right offense. The Cowboys, in desperate need of another playmaker alongside CeeDee Lamb, could provide the ideal landing spot.
Why a return to Dallas makes sense
Bringing Cooper back would instantly upgrade the Cowboys‘ receiving corps. His familiarity with Dak Prescott and the offensive system could lead to a seamless transition. More importantly, he already has experience playing alongside Lamb, allowing him to thrive in a secondary role rather than carrying the full burden of a No. 1 receiver.
Last season, Lamb shouldered the passing game, racking up 152 targets, while the next most-targeted receiver, Jalen Tolbert, had just 79. Cooper’s presence would ease that load, giving Prescott another proven option and preventing defenses from focusing solely on Lamb.
A one-year deal could benefit both sides
With his market not as strong as anticipated, Cooper might have to settle for a short-term contract. A one-year, $15 million deal with Dallas could be a win-win: the Cowboys add a reliable veteran target, and Cooper gets a chance to boost his value for another payday in 2026.
While there are no guarantees, a reunion between Amari Cooper and the Cowboys is becoming an increasingly viable option. Dallas needs help, Cooper needs a landing spot, and the history between the two suggests this partnership could be rekindled sooner rather than later.
