The Dallas Cowboys have signed cornerback Luq Barcoo ahead of their final game of the season against the Washington Commanders, but for now he will be on the practice squad.
Barcoo’s arrival comes after Kemon Hall’s injury, but more importantly it addresses Dallas’ new plan, as they will take the final game of their season as if it were “the preseason in January”, reported Athlon Sports.

Barcoo was out all season in the NFL after being cut in June by the Pittsburgh Steelers, and to make the most of his time, he played in the last XFL season for the San Antonio Brahmas.
The cornerback, who was an undrafted free agent out of San Diego State in 2020, has played for different franchises such as the New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars, so he has not been able to establish himself as a solid player in his respective teams
Cowboys’ plans for the offseason
Dallas is out of playoff contention, so Sunday will be their last game before heading off on a long unwanted vacation.
Among the plans of the management is to meet with a group of young players, possibly including Barcoo, while the Commanders and their head coach, Dan Quinn, will take the game as preparation for the wild card round.
This ended the Cowboys’ streak of three consecutive playoff seasons, after a controversial season full of injuries to several of their most important players.
McCarthy’s last game with Dallas?
Sunday’s game could be the last for head coach Mike McCarthy with the Cowboys, as his contract expires at the end of the season, and his future is up in the air.
McCarthy, who won Super Bowl XLV as head coach of the Green Bay Packers, reflected on the possibility that Sunday could be his last game with the Cowboys.
“I’ll be honest with you, I go to the stadium a lot earlier at this stage of my career than I used to,” McCarthy said. “I won a Super Bowl in that locker room at AT&T Stadium, so I have a very strong emotional attachment that hits me every time I go in and every time I leave. I’m not thinking about that now, but yes, I’m definitely in tune with that.”
