Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs will undergo surgery on his left knee that will end his season to address an issue that was about to sideline him for the third time in four games, people close to the franchise with knowledge of the decision revealed.
It’s the same knee that required surgery early last season to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament, but the ligament is intact, the people said on condition of anonymity because the details were not made public.
Diggs was ruled out of the starting lineup for Sunday’s visit to Carolina, and the Cowboys said the 2021 All-Pro would not make the trip.

Diggs, 26, had missed two games with groin and knee injuries before returning for the 27-20 loss to Cincinnati on Monday night. He also battled foot and ankle issues earlier this season. The torn ACL last year, which occurred in practice, sidelined Diggs for the final 15 games.
Trevon will become Dallas’ third projected starter to undergo season-ending surgery, joining quarterback Dak Prescott (hamstring tear) and seven-time All-Pro center Zack Martin (ankle)

Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown emerged as a starter in his second year, but suffered a right knee injury that ended his season against the Bengals.
Overshown’s right knee injury could keep him out for the entire 2025 season after he missed his entire rookie season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Overshown was placed on injured reserve on Saturday.
Defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence looks set to miss the final 13 games with a foot injury, and two-time All-Pro quarterback Micah Parsons was out for four games with an ankle sprain.
Cornerback DaRon Bland, who was named 2023 All-Pro after setting an NFL record with five interception returns for touchdowns, missed the first 10 games with a stress fracture in his foot.
The loss to the Bengals was the only time Diggs and Bland played together this season. Cornerback Andrew Booth and center Dakoda Shepley were elevated from the practice squad.
