Dak Prescott suffers a traumatic event and shares a commonality with Patrick Mahomes and others

Being a star player in the NFL isn’t easy. In addition to maintaining form and fitness year in and year out, the adulation and obsession that comes with fandom can be uncomfortable for many athletes in the most-watched professional sports league in the United States.

Take Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, for example. They are two of the NFL’s most famous — and most successful — players, having led the Kansas City Chiefs to three Super Bowl victories in five years. But Kelce and Mahomes recently had their homes burglarized, a sobering event that did not end with the Chiefs stars.

The celebrity theft ring that has impacted Mahomes, Kelce, and even Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic has come for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and his fiance, Sarah Jane Ramos.

The day after Christmas, Dallas Police discovered that around $40,000 worth of jewelry was lifted and stolen from Ramos‘ vehicle, including designer handbags and wallets, in addition to cash and computer software. The value of the stolen goods trumps the cost of what was taken from Doncic ($25,000) last week, while Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is another well-known athlete who recently was targeted for theft.

If Prescott was bothered by the theft, he did not show it while Philadelphia Eagles fans heckled him during the Cowboys‘ ugly 41-7 loss at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday. The three-time Pro Bowler and father of one has missed several weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury that effectively ended his 2024 season, and he seemed to love the back-and-forth with rowdy Eagles fans as his team suffered a heavy defeat.
