Dak Prescott top NFL earner deliver money lesson to George Pickens ahead of payday

Coming from a career year George Pickens, who just turned 25, was one of the first priorities this offseason for the Dallas Cowboys. That is why the Cowboys officially placed the franchise tag on George Pickens before free agency started and Owner Jerry Jones said “I expect him to have an outstanding year.” Pickens hauled in 93 receptions for a staggering 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns, he also set a franchise record with five games of at least 130 yards receiving and a touchdown catch.

He had better numbers than CeeDee Lamb who missed some games due to injury but when the two were together Dak Prescott was the happiest man on the field. The problem for the team was the same as last year, the defense that gave up 20 or more points in almost every single contest and gave up 30 or more points in half of their 16 games.

Dak Prescott Shares Blunt Money Advice with Pickens in Viral Clip

At the Children’s Cancer Fund gala in Dallas, where he serves as an honorary co-chair, Dak Prescott offered his teammate, wide receiver George Pickens, some thoughtful advice following the franchise tag placed on him.

Prescott emphasized the importance of staying grounded in one’s passion for the game rather than shifting one’s focus to business aspects. He encouraged Pickens to maintain the same passion for football that he displayed while playing on a low-cost, one-year contract last season.

Prescott noted that the tag’s value of around $30 million is similar to what he received when he was franchised earlier in his career. Prescott now has the highest annual salary in the NFL at 60 million.

Cowboys’ Defense Remains Priority as Pickens Deal Looms

With George Pickens, CeeDee, Dak Prescott and Javonte Williams running it back for next year coach Brian Schottenheimer needs to address, alongside Jones, the defense with their two first round picks in the draft.

After the Quinnen Williams trade it was evident the change in the defensive line and Jones mentioned he expects to spend in this free agency and it’s expected that spending will be mainly on defense because it’s impossible to be contenders being one of the worst teams in the NFL in two years in a row.

Dallas is currently the only team in the NFL that has failed to reach an NFC Championship game since 2010. In fact, it has now been 30 consecutive years since “America’s Team” reached that stage, dating all the way back to their last Super Bowl victory in February 1996.
