Hurricane Helene is one of the most devastating storms in recent years, leaving a trail of destruction in the southeastern United States. In response, Sarah Jane Ramos, girlfriend of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, joined the growing list of voices offering support to those affected.
Helene claimed at least 64 lives, left millions without electricity, and caused millions of dollars in damage. The Category 4 hurricane struck Florida’s Big Bend region late Thursday, with winds reaching 140 mph.
The storm wreaked havoc across Florida and Georgia before moving into North Carolina, where floods and landslides forced the closure of highways and roads, complicating rescue efforts.
Witnessing the disaster unfold, Sarah Jane turned to social media to express her condolences and support for the storm’s victims.
Sarah Jane’s message of support
On Friday afternoon, Sarah Jane shared a video of the hurricane’s impact on her Instagram Stories. Alongside the footage, she added a simple yet heartfelt caption: “Prayers for Tampa,” followed by a praying hands emoji.
She wasn’t alone in offering her sympathy. Emily Mayfield, wife of Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, also sent a heartfelt message to the victims and took the opportunity to let her followers know that her family had safely evacuated before the storm hit.
“I do not have words to accurately describe my heartbreak for everyone affected by Hurricane Helene,” Emily shared. She added, “Baker, Koko, Fergus, and I evacuated yesterday and are safe.”
Buccaneers stand by the victims
Beyond the expressions of support, the Glazer family, owners of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, pledged a $1 million donation to aid hurricane victims.
Emily Mayfield expressed her desire to assist in “tangible” ways, asking her followers for suggestions on how to best contribute to the recovery efforts. She promised to share helpful information and resources on her social media platforms.
As the storm continues to move away, federal agencies are just beginning to assess the material damage. However, the personal losses are far greater and more profound, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.
